Jane Bearden is a well-traveled violinist who has “…a brilliant silvery sound…” (Jim Lowe, Times Argus). She performed as a first violinist of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra for several years, touring in Australia, Taiwan, China, and Singapore and recording for the BIS label. She has performed under the direction of conductors Lorin Maazel, Claus Peter Flor, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and Sir Neville Marriner, Eiji Oue, Charles Dutoit and Pierre Boulez.
She has also enjoyed working with soloists such as Joshua Bell, Pekka Kuusisto, and Nikolaj Znaider, among many others.
She completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in violin performance under Sheryl Staples (Principal Associate Concertmaster, New York Philharmonic) at the Manhattan School of Music. She then joined New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas, but shortly after won the position in the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.
She has performed with other orchestras including Philharmonia of the Nations, Sarasota Orchestra, Macau Orchestra, Vermont Symphony Orchestra and other local ensembles in Burlington, VT and Hanover, NH.
As soloist, she has performed with the Malaysian Philharmonic Chamber Players, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra, Burlington Ensemble and Burlington Chamber Orchestra.
Upon returning to the United States from Malaysia, Jane took math and science courses in the post-bac premed program at the University of Vermont, which deepened her interest in the inner workings of the body and mind and its relation to creativity and performance. She and her family spent the last 12 years between Montreal and Vermont, and have now settled in the Hanover, NH area.
